Xiaomi Mi A1 receiving Android 8.0 Oreo update (Update: rolling out again)

Xiaomi originally stopped rolling the update out due toa bug in the dialer app, and whileBeebomsays there are still some issues waiting to be resolved, these should be non-critical. Let us know in the comments if you’ve received the latest update yet and if you’ve encountered any problems.
Update #1 (01/11):Following the rollout of Android Oreo for the Xiaomi Mi A1 at the end of December, the update may now have been pulled. The news arrives viaPiunika.web, which got its hands on a Xiaomi screenshot stating that the update had been “stopped temporarily” — a decision it says Xiaomi arrived at due to a number of software bugs.

Talk in the Xiaomi forums has beenquiet for the last few days, while those onReddithave also been asking about the update’s status. To our knowledge, Xiaomi hasn’t started this up again yet, and it’s not clear when it will.
The update only began after an—albeit brief—beta period, which is usually when any critical bugs are addressed—making this course of action something of a surprise. We’ll let you know when we receive further news of the rollout’s status.

Following a recentOreo beta test, the company announced the updateon its Twitter accounton August 13, 2025:
As the tweet says, you’ll need to be running the latest December update (7.12.19) in order to receive the over-the-air Oreo update. Keep in mind this is a staged rollout, so it might be a few days before the update reaches all Mi A1 handsets.
