Original article: July 30, 2025 (3:22 AM ET):In a bizarre and potentially dangerous incident, a woman’s brand newOnePlus Nord 2apparently exploded inside her phone sling while she was cycling.

The alleged explosion was reported by the woman’s husband,Ankur Sharma, on Twitter.
“Today morning around 6 AM IST, my wife went out for cycling with her new OnePlus Nord 2 (5days old) in her sling. All of a sudden phone blasted and smoke started coming out of it. Due to this blast, she met with an accident. She is in trauma after this incident,” Sharma’snow-deleted tweetread at the time.

An eagle-eyed Twitter user was able to grab a screenshot of Sharma’s tweet describing the incident. As you’re able to see from the screenshot below, Sharma also attached some images of a burnt phone, allegedly the OnePlus Nord 2.
The OnePlus Support account replied to Sharma’s tweet saying that the company was “gutted” to hear about the experience. Sharma followed with a response saying that OnePlus has acknowledged the issue and has “already started testing.”

Meanwhile, OnePlus confirmed that the company has reached out to Sharma and is currently investigating the alleged Nord 2 explosion. The company emailed the following statement toAndroid Authority.
We also reached out to Sharma on Twitter to verify his complaint and get more information about the incident. However, we haven’t yet heard from him. Given the tweet was deleted for some unexplained reason, we’re unsure if the user will be willing to discuss the apparent incident.
The alleged explosion of the Nord 2 has created quite a buzz onReddit, with people wondering whether the phone is safe to use or not. However, it should be noted that the authenticity of the incident hasn’t been verified by the company yet.
We’ll update this article If and when we get some more information on the matter from OnePlus or the user themselves.
