Unannounced Nokia X spotted in the wild with notch (Update: specs outed)

Update #2 (05/10):The Chinese communications commission websiteTENAAhas revealed the specs of the upcoming Nokia X. The new listing, for Nokia model TA-1099 (previously linked to the Nokia X), was spotted byGSMArenaearlier today.
The handset will come with a 5.8-inch, 19:9, 2280×1080 resolution TFT display, 1.8 GHz octa-core chipset (possibly the Snapdragon 636) and 3GB, 4GB, or 6GB of RAM depending on the model.
The unit will also include up to 64 GB of internal storage space, a 3,000 mAh battery, and a 16 MP rear camera, though the front-facing camera wasn’t mentioned. It’s coming in three colors, blue, black, silver white, with 147.2mm × 70.98mm × 7.99mm dimensions.
Renders from the website reaffirm the design we’ve seen in previous leaks. Look out for more information, including price details, when the phone launches on May 16.
Update #1 (04/30):Nokia has posted a render image of what we believe is the Nokia X, days after we first spotted the device in photos.
The render was published onNokia’s Weibo pageand arrives alongside the official invite viaBaidu Nokibar(viaNokiamob). The invite, previously seen on the physical device at the recent China event, indicates that the handset will be launched on May 16.
Internal specs details, availability information, and the phone’s official name, remain unconfirmed.
Previous coverage (04/27):An unannouncedNokia smartphonehas been spotted in live photos from an HMD Global event. The device, which features model number TA-1099 and goes by the name Nokia X, would be the tenth smartphone (excluding 2018 editions and variants) released by HMD Global.
The images were picked up byNokiamob(viaBaidu Nokibar) earlier today and reveal the handset sitting on a display table at an unnamed (presumably Asian) event. While we can’t vouch for the source of the information, it looks legit, and the device was tipped to launch in China today.
The pictured device features a bezel-less display with a notch at the top (likeanother popular “X”-branded device), dual rear camera setup, and rear fingerprint scanner. It also appears to come with a glass and metal body.
A potential release date, May 16, can apparently be seen on the device’s wallpaper, which would coincidentally coincide with the global launch of theOnePlus 6.
The handset may be known in other regions as the Nokia X6. That device has beenpreviously rumoredwith a different design, but it’s possible that the other renders were inaccurate. It’s also possible that they were accurate and the X6 is simply a separate device under the “X” banner. Until HMD Global makes an official announcement, we can only speculate.
The Nokia X6 isrumoredto house a 5.8-inch display with 19:9 aspect ratio, Snapdragon 636 chipset, and 6GB RAM. A low-end variant, with a MediaTek Helio P60 chipset and 4GB RAM, has also been hinted at.
