This budget phone could help make pop-up selfie cameras mainstream in the U.S.

August 05, 2025

It seems like loads of manufacturers are offering smartphones withpop-up selfie camerasthese days, with theXiaomi Mi 9T,realme X, andOnePlus 7 Proall delivering the feature.

Only the OnePlus 7 Pro has officially made it to the U.S., but it’s not exactly the most affordable smartphone in the world at $669. Thankfully, it seems like U.S. budget brand BLU is working on a phone with a pop-up selfie camera, and it could make a splash in the mid-range segment.

The BLU Bold N1 has passed by theFCC, and some of the images attached to the filing clearly show a device with a pop-up selfie camera. Check out the pictures below.

Pictures, internal photos, and theuser manualalso reveal aHelio P60chipset, dual rear-camera setup,3,500mAh battery, 128GB of storage,USB-Cport,3.5mmport, a microSD slot, and dual-SIM support. This all suggests that, selfie camera mechanism aside, we’re looking at a pretty capable smartphone in general.

In any event, BLU usually sticks to the sub-$300 category, so we can certainly expect the BLU Bold N1 to be one of the cheapest (if not the cheapest) phones with a pop-up selfie camera in the U.S. market. And even if this model doesn’t sell particularly well, the mere presence of an affordable phone with a pop-up camera could encourage other, more prominent manufacturers to deliver similar efforts. U.S. consumers may not be tied to premium smartphones to get a pop-up camera for much longer.
