Swiftmoji features are now in SwiftKey, app will be abandoned
August 05, 2025
A little less than two years ago, we told you about a new product from SwiftKey calledSwiftmoji. WhileSwiftKeywas and still is the core product from the company, Swiftmoji was a keyboard focused on predicting whichEmojiyou would want to use based on your text input.
Now, according tothe SwiftKey blog, Swiftmoji will no longer receive any updates. But don’t worry, you can still access all the features in Swiftmoji through the main SwiftKey app. If you for some reason are still using Swiftmoji instead of SwiftKey, now would be a good time to switch.

According to SwiftKey, the Swiftmoji keyboard was used more as a testing grounds for predicting Emojis. Now that the company has about two years of data it feels strong enough about the feature to bring it into the main app, thus making Swiftmoji irrelevant.
If you don’t want to use the main SwiftKey app, Swiftmoji isn’t going anywhere; the app is still available to download in theGoogle Play Store. However, the app will receive no further updates and could be pulled at any moment in the future.

Google’s Gboardalso has Emoji predictions built-in, and those predictions are powered byGoogle Assistant. If you’re looking to switch keyboard brands entirely,Gboardwould probably be your best bet.
SwiftKey actually introduced some Emojis to its keyboard that werelifted from Skype last week. Since SwiftKey isa Microsoft-owned property, you should expect more and more Microsoft branding to leak into SwiftKey.
