Samsung sent a selfie into space and it crash landed back on Earth

Last week,Samsungsent a selfie of model and actor Cara Delevingne taken on aGalaxy S10into space for itsSpaceSelfie PR stunt. In an unforeseen turn of events, the SpaceSelfie landing went south this weekend as turbulent weather sent Samsung’s spacecraft crashing down on an unsuspecting farm in Michigan.
In its response toNBC, Samsung clarified the weather conditions required immediate action, so the team selected a rural area to bring the craft down. The emergency landing site they choose happened to be the farm of Nancy and Dan Welke.

After Nancy heard the craft crash just outside her home, she called 911, and officers were “baffled” at the situation. The craft carried branding for both Samsung and Raven Industries — a South Dakota-based high-altitude balloon manufacturer.
Samsung representatives flew to the SpaceSelfie crash landing site yesterday to make sure the farm owners and livestock were safe and no severe damage was done. Thankfully, no one was hurt during the incident.
During the launch event, the South Korean company claimed this was the first selfie sent to space. Along with a picture of Delevigne, other users could also upload their selfies to Samsung’sMission Controlwebsite to hopefully see their photos displayed on an onboardGalaxy S10 5G.
No one expected their selfies would come crashing down on a random farm in Michigan.
