Samsung Galaxy S22 series camera specs leak: Where is the 200MP sensor?

Camera specs and some more details of theSamsung Galaxy S22 serieshave leaked. According to Korean publication,TheElec, Samsung will once again release three models in the Galaxy S22 series, internally codenamed “Rainbow.”

It’s no surprise that we’ll see the vanilla Galaxy S22, the Galaxy S22 Plus, and the S22 Ultra in the flagship lineup. However, if you were expecting to find Samsung’s newly announced200MP camera sensorin there, you’d be disappointed.

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra in hand

Citing sources, the report notes that the top-end Galaxy S22 Ultra will once again feature a 108MP primary sensor, just like the reigning Galaxy S21 Ultra. It’ll have three other cameras, including a 12MP ultra-wide shooter. Both the 108MP and 12MP sensors are expected to feature optical image stabilization. There’s no 3D Time of Flight (ToF) sensor in there.

On the front, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is said to house a 40MP selfie shooter. Once again, this is the same setup as the Galaxy S21 Ultra.

Meanwhile, the standard Galaxy S22 and the Plus model are expected to get identical camera specifications. As per the report, both of them would pack a triple camera array with 3X optical zoom and a 10MP camera on the front. A previous leak suggested that the phones will finally move away from the 12MP main camera and house a 50MP primary sensor. This could be Samsung’s Isocell GN2 sensor capable of producing 12.5MP pixel binned shots.

Samsung will also reportedly pair the Galaxy S22 Ultra with an S Pen.
