Samsung Exynos 7904 targets India with triple camera, 4K recording support

Ahead of the launch of theGalaxy M series, Samsung hasintroducedits new Exynos 7904 chipset. The company claims that the system-on-chip has been designed with the Indian audience in mind and as such, has features liketriple-camerasupport as well as superior processing power.
The CPU ships in anocta-coreconfiguration where it combines two Cortex-A73 cores with six Cortex-A53 cores. The two high powered A73 cores clocked at 1.8Ghz will kick in when using the phone for processor-intensive applications. For everything else, the power-efficient Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.6Ghz should keep things moving along just fine with limited power draw. The chipset is built on a 14nm process.
Built for a mid-range audience, the Exynos 7904 supports full HD+ displays. The chipset goes against the likes of Qualcomm’sSnapdragon 675and istippedto ship on the upcomingGalaxy M20. Like the competition, the Exynos 7904 supports carrier aggregation, and can theoretically manage a 600Mbps downlink.
Triple camera support and 4K video recording
Samsung is talking up the camera capabilities of their latest chipset and for good reason too. With the upcomingRedmi Note 7shipping with a 48MP sensor, the Galaxy M series will need to be competitive on the imaging front. The image signal processor (ISP) on the Exynos 7904 has support for up to three cameras which should enable some interesting use cases.
At least one phone in the Galaxy M series is expected to ship with a triple camera setup and we expect to see a combination of a wide angle camera, telephoto or depth sensing sensor alongside the primary shooter. In addition to triple cameras, the Exynos 7904 supports a single camera with a resolution of up to 32 megapixels. On the video front, the chipset enables 4K video capture at 30 frames-per-second (FPS) or 120FPS full HD video capture.
The Exynos 7 Series 7904 is now in mass production and we expect to see it in action in an upcoming M series smartphone when they launch later this month. What are your thoughts on Samsung getting more aggressive in the entry and mid-range segment? Let us know in the comments.
