Report: Samsung to begin mass-producing the Galaxy Note 7 in July, 5M units by release

Given the rapid rate at which news of Samsung’s unannouncedGalaxy Note 7is disseminating from the leak ledger, it’s safe to say that within mere weeks, the phone itself will be spotted in a hands-on holding not unlikewhat happened last year. With anexpected launch of August 2nd, the floodgates are surely about to open, and indeed already have: just yesterday The Korea Heraldconfirmed an iris scanner. Today’s news involves the actual production plan for the product.
According to a new report byKorean website etnews, Samsung is set to start mass production of the Galaxy Note 7 in July and plans to have about 5 million devices ready for the expected release in August. More specifically:

The piece also makes mention of the dual-edge display believed to be included on the Note 7, something that has already rubbed some potential consumers the wrong way in light of their dislike for such a curved creation. While it is largely believed that the Note 7 will indeed include a display in the same style as the Galaxy S7 Edge, it is not so clear as to if the OEM will be producing a “lesser” model, i.e. one with a standard flat display.
Given that Samsung has consistently released a standard variantalongwith each Edge offering, it is probably more probably that there will be a Galaxy Note 7anda Galaxy Note 7 Edge. At the same time, given design renders that have been leaked of the Edge variant, the more dramatic – and productive – curve seen on the original Note Edge is likely to be eschewed in favor of the more subtle – and less substantial – variant seen on the mainstream Galaxy S smartphones.
To put things differently, 2016 will likely see the same dual phablet launch as last year’s Note 5 and S6 Edge+, with the sole difference being that the latter update will be branded as a Note.
