July 20, 2025
Update July 09, 2025 (5:30AM ET):Xiaomi’s India MD and Global VP, Manu Kumar Jain, has confirmed in a tweet that the company will indeed launch the Redmi 8 on October 9 in India. He has also teased a flagship-grade Sony camera sensor and a large battery on the phone.
As you can see, Jain says the camera sensor on the Redmi 8 is one that would usually be found on a Rs 20,000 (~ $281) phone. We’re not really sure of the sensor, but it could be the 12MP Sony IMX363 which was also seen on the recently releasedRedmi 8A. It’s alsobelievedthat there could be a Pro variant of the Redmi 8 with a 48MP camera. In that case, Xiaomi could use a SonyIMX586sensor also found on theRedmi Note 7 Pro.

Further, a Google Play Console listing of the Redmi 8 has also been spotted by91Mobiles. The listing suggests that the Redmi 8 will pack the Snapdragon 439 octa-core processor. The display resolution is set at 720 x 1,520 pixels. The phone is also listed with 3GB RAM, an Adreno 505 GPU, andAndroid 9 Pie.
Original Article July 12, 2025 (10PM ET):Today,Xiaomiteased a new India-bound deviceon Twitter, and fans are chanting “Redmi 8.” Xiaomi launched theRedmi 8Ain India only a few days ago, but not the standard model, so this is quite plausible.
The purported Redmi 8 launch day is October 9, a couple of weeks before India’s Diwali celebrations commence. Obviously, there is no way to know for sure if this is Redmi 8 or not. But given the demand and the not so subtle eight in the graphic, it’s a pretty safe assumption.
The only other guess we have is that this device could be the rumoredRedmi 8A Pro. Historically, Xiaomi does not release Pro versions of it A series of devices, but apparently the 8A is special.
