realme continues its impressive debut year, hits 4 million users

August 12, 2025

Realmehas seemingly enjoyed a successful debut in 2018, as theOpposub-brand delivered affordable yet capable smartphones. Now, the company has revealed another milestone for its first year on the market.

realme hit four million users, according to a tweet from the official company account. It’s a noteworthy achievement when you consider that the brand’s distribution has largely been restricted to India and the South East Asia region.

The brand’s four million figure means it could be ahead of established players likeHTC. The Taiwanese firm’s 2018 production volume was reportedly estimated atjust under two million units. In other words, a new sub-brand may have delivered double the volume.

The news also comes roughly a month after Counterpoint Research found that realme was inthird place overallfor Indian sales during the Diwali holiday season. This put the company ahead of the likes ofHuawei,LG,OnePlusand others for the sales period.

Counterpoint’s figures show that the sub-brand was virtually non-existent in terms of offline sales during this period. Fortunately, realme has just announced plans tooffer offline salesin 150 Indian cities by the end of 2019.

The sub-brand has also previously stated its intention to expand to more Asian countries, as well as the Middle East and Africa regions. So if the company is able to keep up this momentum, while also adding offline sales, there’s no reason why 2019 shouldn’t see bigger numbers.
