Not seeing Netflix in your Google TV app? You’re not alone.
June 21, 2025
Along with the latestChromecast with Google TVstreaming device came a revamped Google Play Movies & TV app. Within this app, you can find shows and films to watch and add media to your watchlist. The big benefit of this function is that you can search across streaming providers — of whichthere are too many.
Unfortunately, though, it appears the biggest media service of all is no longer showing up within the Google TV app (h/t9to5Google).Netflix shows and filmsstill appear in the app when you search for them, but you’re able to’t add them to your watchlist. The Netflix service also appears to be gone from the services selection screen within the Google TV app.

Now, don’t freak out quite yet: there is still Netflix on Google TV through the Chromecast. If you have previously connected your Netflix account to your Chromecast with Google TV, you can still watch Netflix content and even access the service through the Netflix button on the companion remote. You just can’t find Netflix content in the app itself.
Google is mum on why Netflix on Google TV is gone
We reached out to Google about this weird problem. Unfortunately, the company gave the same canned response to us as it did to9to5Google:
That doesn’t really answer any questions about this. It also doesn’t satiate any concerns consumers might have about how Netflix will (or won’t) work within the Google TV app going forward. Hopefully, this matter gets some clarity soon.
