Nokia 5.1 Plus launched in India, available October 1 with Android One

Nokiafans in India should be excited to learn thatHMD Global just launched the Nokia 5.1 Plus— a budget smartphone with some pretty killer specs for its price point.

Last week, HMD Globalteased a new Nokia deviceand included the hashtag “#GameOn,” which led some fans to believe that it was releasing a gaming phone, similar to theRazer Phoneor theASUS ROG Phone. However, it turns out HMD was just pushing the gaming capabilities of the Nokia 5.1 Plus.
While the Nokia 5.1 Plus is a lightweight compared to something like the Razer Phone, it does have solid enough specs to play some relatively high-intensity games. Considering how cheap the device is, this is a welcome development.

Since the Nokia 5.1 Plus will ship with the Android One variant ofAndroid 8.1 Oreo, it will likely get security patches and Android updates at a relatively fast pace, at least compared to other non-Android One devices in its class.
The Nokia 5.1 Plus will be available starting October 1 fromNokia.comas well as the Nokia Flipkart store. You can pre-order the device now from either location for only 10,999 Rs. (~$151). Your color choices are Gloss Black and Gloss Midnight Blue for now.
