LG Q70 announced: Is it a Galaxy A50 rival?
July 24, 2025
Yesterday, LGofficially announcedits latest mid-range smartphone, the LG Q70. The device is coming to market September 6, and LG hopes it can compete with other mid-range offerings such as theSamsung Galaxy A50.
Samsung’s Galaxy A50 is one of the best mid-range smartphones you’re able to pick up today. It is definitely the best mid-range device Samsung has developed in years, only really falling short in the low-light camera quality and average CPU performance. But, for under $450, shortcomings like that are to be expected.

The LG Q70 comes in at almost the exact same price-point and features LG’s first hole-punch display. Its 6.5-inch screen is slightly larger than the Galaxy A50’s 6.4-inch offering, but both of them are 1080p. On the downside, the Q70 features a rear fingerprint scanner, while the Galaxy A50 is one step ahead, including an in-display sensor.
The LG Q70’s display also sports an 18.5:9 aspect ratio compared to the A50’s 19.5:9 display. It has Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 675 processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, a 4,000mAh battery, and an IP68 dust and water resistance rating.

The Q70’s rear-facing three-sensor camera setup looks promising too. One of the shooters is a 32MP ultra-high resolution sensor, the second is a 120-degree ultra-wide-angle sensor, and the third is a depth-sensing camera for video and photo portrait mode.
When you take all that and add a Hi-Fi 32-bit Quad DAC and a microSD card slot that supports up to 2TB, it’s easy to see how the LG Q70 could have a competitive advantage over the Galaxy A50 and other mid-range devices. We won’t know for sure until we get our hands on it, so keep your eye out for our full review.
