Lenovo Z5 Pro GT has outrageous 12GB of RAM, Snapdragon 855, sliding back
June 11, 2025
Today,Lenovotook to Chinese micro-blogging siteWeiboto announce the upcoming Lenovo Z5 Pro GT, which is the first announced smartphone to come with an absolutely bonkers 12GB of RAM. It also could potentially be the first smartphone to hit the market with theQualcomm Snapdragon 855chipset.
TheLenovo Z5 Prolaunched in China back in November with a sliding back mechanism (similar to theXiaomi Mi Mix 3), a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chipset, 6GB of RAM, and a 6.39-inch notch-less display (2,340 x 1,080) for only 1,998 Chinese yuan (~$290).

Now, the Lenovo Z5 Pro GT appears to take the same design elements of the Z5 Pro and bump all the internal specs to the nth degree. The 6.39-inch display is still here, as is the sliding back, dual front and rear cameras, in-display fingerprint sensor, etc. However, there are more RAM options, larger internal storage options, and, of course, the addition of the Snapdragon 855 chipset, which will likely be the default chip for almost every Android flagship in 2019.
Moreover, there doesn’t appear to be too much of a price increase for the various models of the Lenovo Z5 Pro GT, which is surprising considering the introduction of the new chipset. Here’s how the models break down:

According to Lenovo, the Z5 Pro GT will go up for pre-order on January 15, with general sales beginning on January 24. While the phone is only likely to land in China, it very well could be the first smartphone to hit the market globally with the Snapdragon 855, considering theSamsung Galaxy S10isn’t expected to launch until a month later.
However,we have been burned by Lenovo before, so take this all with some trepidation for the time being.
