Leaked renders give us our first look at the Samsung Galaxy A8 (2016)

July 29, 2025

Along with an upcomingrefresh to its smaller Galaxy A series handsets,Samsungappears to be working on a successor tolast year’s Galaxy A8as well.@Onleakshas provided our first look at the upcoming Galaxy A8 (2016) with this little selection of renders.

Based on this early look, it appears that the Samsung Galaxy A8 (2016) shares a familiar design to the company’s flagship Galaxy S7, thanks to a glass looking back cover and a metal trim. However, this will be a much larger phone than the S7, in fact it’s shaping up to be bigger than the Note 7 as well. The phone’s dimensions measure 156.5 x 77.5 x 7.3mm, as there are no curved edges on this display.

Speaking of the display, the handset is rumored to come with a 5.7-inch 1080p panel. Other hardware specifications are said to include an octa-core Exynos 7420 processor from the Galaxy S6 series, 3GB of RAM, and 32 GB of internal storage. The rear camera looks to be a 16 megapixel sensor, which is paired up with a familiar 5 megapixel front facing camera, and Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow on board.

If true, these specifications suggest that that the 2016 model could be a fair bit more powerful than the first generation Galaxy A8. Although it seems more likely to me that Samsung would equip such a phone with one of itsnewer Exynos chips, or perhaps stick with a mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon, than opt for an older flagship Exynos processor.
