HUAWEI Watch 3 launch tipped for May with new UI, eSIM support
August 08, 2025
HUAWEI could soon launch a successor to its2017 Wear OS smartwatch. According to aWeibo tipster(viaHuaweiCentral), the HUAWEI Watch 3 is set to launch in May. However, it won’t pack Google’s operating system for wearables. It might not even get HUAWEI’s own Lite OS that runs on devices like theHUAWEI Watch GT 2andGT 2 Pro.
The tipster suggests that the HUAWEI Watch 3 will get a brand new Harmony OS UI. It’s unclear whether the change is limited to the user interface or if it’s a brand new smartwatch OS based onHarmony OS.

Nevertheless, this isn’t the first time we’re hearing about the so-called HUAWEI Watch 3. Previously, known tipsterRodent950also posted some UI renders of what Harmony OS might look like on the upcoming device.
Further, the smartwatch is also expected to support eSIM connectivity. That means it should be able to make and receive phone calls independent of a smartphone, unlike HUAWEI’s GT series watches that use the phone as a source of cellular connectivity.

The tipster also revealed that the wearable will add support for more third-party apps and get some new AI-based activity modes.
Of course, all this information is unconfirmed for the moment because HUAWEI hasn’t announced anything officially. Even the Weibo tipster is not someone we usually rely on for tips so take everything here with a pinch of salt. We’ll update this article if and when we hear more about the HUAWEI Watch 3.
