HTC Wildfire X comes to India, but HTCisn’t making it

July 26, 2025

We’ve seen leaks and rumors related to newHTC Wildfirephones for several weeks now, and a new entry has finally arrived in the form of theHTC Wildfire X.

The new phone, which launched in India today, marks a major turning point for the company, as it’s basically an HTCphone in name only. According toGSMArena, the HTCWildfire X is made by Chinese firm and new HTCbrand licensee, In One Smart Technology.

This is a similar approach to BlackBerry, as Indian company Optiemus Infracom licensed out the BlackBerry name for theBlackBerry Evolvephones last year. The veteran mobile firm had almost nothing to do with this new handset.

As for the HTCWildfire X, it’s aimed squarely at the budget space. That means aHelio P22processor, 3GB or 4GB of RAM, 32GB or 128GB of expandable storage, a 3,300mAh battery, and a 6.2-inch HD+ waterdrop display.

The phone doesn’t seem too bad in terms of photography though, delivering atriple rear camerasetup (12MP, 8MP 2x telephoto, 5MP depth), 8xhybrid zoomtech, and an 8MP selfie snapper.

The HTCWildfire X will be sold viaFlipkartfrom August 22, starting at ₹10,999 (~$154) for the 3GB/32GB model and ₹13,999 (~$196) for the 4GB/128GB option. you’re able to also expect a six-month accidental damage protection plan as part of your purchase.

It’s too early to say whether the firm has made a great decision, but it does sound like a solid idea in theory. A move to license out the HTCname means the company might not have to spend money actually producing phones, for example. This could therefore result in reduced risk on HTC’s part, as its operating costs are cut down.
