Google Assistant is coming to select Bose smart speakers
June 02, 2025
Just last week, we reported thatSonos finally rolled outtheGoogle Assistantto its line of smart speakers. While Sonos speakers already featured theAmazon Alexavoice assistant, letting users choose from more than one voice assistant should help entice those who have gone all-in on Google.
Today, Bose is making the same move.
Starting today, the Google Assistant will be accessible throughBose’s line of smart speakers and sound bars. So far, the list of devices includes theBose Home Speaker 500, theBose Soundbar 500,Soundbar 700, and the upcoming Bose Home Speaker 300. Newsmart speakerproducts from the company should also have access to the assistant going forward.
If you already own one of these speakers, it should receive an automatic software update enabling the Google Assistant starting today. All you need to do is open the Bose Music app, select the “voice settings” menu, and select the Google Assistant as your primary voice assistant. Users who purchase a Bose smart speaker after the update goes live will have the option to select Google Assistant at setup.

It’s nice to see more companies giving choice to consumers when it comes to smart assistants. Ecosystem lockdown is never good for the end user, and we all appreciate some good old fashion choice.
