Consumer Reports says Sprint is the lowest rated carrier in 2014

June 10, 2025

It has been an interesting 2014 for Sprint. In August, Marcelo Claure took over Sprint and began a T-Mobile style plan of dropping phone prices and increasing data allotments. Claure made these moves due to Sprint finishing dead last in most customer satisfaction rankings over the last few years under previous Sprint CEO Dan Hesse.

For example, last year Sprintfinished dead lastin terms of customer satisfaction according to Consumer Reports. Considering AT&T had spent many years occupying this spot, it was quite an accomplishment by Sprint to beat them out. But according to Sprint, the reason for the finish last year was due to a “period of transition” and that improvements would be coming shortly.

But now Consumer Reports has released their 2014 rankings. Congratulations to Sprint for winning yet another award from Consumer Reports as the lowest ranked wireless carrier in 2014.

As Motley Foolnoted, this follows Sprint finishing dead last in a recent RootMetric study for wireless carrier performance.

Just last week, Sprint announced that last quarter saw the company lose around272,000 postpaid customers. This likely contributed to Sprint also announcing a quarterly loss of $765 million. Meanwhile, AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile all saw customer gains during this time.
