Bandai Namco brings a new Katamari-themed endless runner to Android

August 03, 2025

Odds are that you haven’t noticed that the weird, quirky Katamari Damacy series has been around since 2004, when the original title was released for the PlayStation 2. Takes you back, doesn’t it? Well, let me pull you back into the present withAmazing Katamari Damacy, an endless runner that has made its way toAndroidafter a stint oniOS.

As I’ve already spoiled for you,Amazing Katamari Damacyis an endless runner that tasks you with collecting as much stuff as possible without hitting obstacles in your way. you’re able to jump to get over these obstacles, but from the looks of it, you’ll be spending more of your time swiping left and right.

From the looks of it,Amazing Katamari Damacyretains the unique aesthetics and music that the series is known for, and the absurdity of collecting everything from cars and helicopters to bugs and baby strollers seems to be alive and well.

The problem, as you might have guessed, is its free-to-play nature. The game features two types of currency, coins and rubies, and you can spend real-world money to buy additional coins and rubies. From my playtime, coins are easy enough to collect, but rubies are not so easy to attain. You can get rubies from the loot crate system, which dresses up the crate of goodies as a rocket ship, but I have to wait three hours for mine to open.

Finally,Amazing Katamari Damacychugs once you get your mass of stuff bigger and bigger. Looking at some of the game’s reviews on the Play Store, I’m not alone in experiencing some performance issues, and I ran the game on myGalaxy S8 Plus.

With that being said, the game still contains plenty of personality, so I would at least give it a download at the link below and try it out. I just hope that Bandai Namco pushes out an update to address some of the game’s performance issues.
