July 01, 2025
Google’s faster rollout initiatives for Android seem to be paying off. According to data fromStatCounter(viaderStandard),Android 11has the fastest adoption rate compared to all previous Android versions.
Over 20% of phones in the US are currently running the latest Android version, as per the website. The software has almost crossed Android 9 in terms of market share and is already inching to take over Android 10’s distribution numbers.

StatCounter also shows data from other countries, including the UK and Canada. Android 11 seems to be on a growth trajectory in both of those markets.
If you look at the worldwide data though, Android 10 is still leading with over 41% market share compared to any other version of the software. Breaking this down into regions shows that the previous Android version is also on top in Europe and Asia, where Android 11 has failed to capture a significant share until now.
Nevertheless, Android 11’s impressive feat in the US and other regions shows that things are getting much better when it comes to Android distribution. Google has invested in various initiatives likeProject Trebleanda partnership with Qualcommto make Android updated easier and faster.
We previouslycomparedhow Android OS versions performed after 10 months on the market. In that scheme of things, Android 11 seems to be doing a pretty good job in just six months of its launch.
Obviously, these numbers from StatCounter aren’t official. Google’s Android distribution numbers are now hidden away inAndroid Studioso not everyone can see them. However, the company did revealAndroid 10’s statslast year, so we also expect to hear more about Android 11’s official performance numbers in the coming months.
